Our Story
A mission born in 2014 now powering thousands across rural Africa.
In 2014, one of our founders began his journey in the renewable energy sector while working for a solar company in Kampala, Uganda. Fresh from earning a degree in Biosystems Engineering, he was assigned to install a plug-and-play solar home system for a family in rural central Uganda.
This household had lived their entire lives without electricity. When the lights switched on and they watched television for the first time, their excitement was unforgettable. That moment sparked a passion for delivering clean, reliable energy to communities long left behind.
Determined to deepen his knowledge, he pursued a master’s degree in Renewable Energy Technologies at PAUWES in Algeria under an African Union scholarship. After returning home, he committed to creating solutions for communities like the one that inspired him.
In 2024, Solar Pesa was born — a social enterprise dedicated to unlocking affordable energy access for the rural poor.
